Aleppo Oil
If you've read through our Meet Amy blog, linked here, you're probably still thinking about this gorgeous Aleppo oil. Lucky for us- she shared how she does it. The opportunities are endless with this condiment!
Harissa Hummus (+ Hummus Base Recipe)
The addition of Harissa to the hummus creates both a tasty and healthy dish. Use this on pita bread or as a side with other classic Middle Eastern dishes. The fresh flavor, coupled with the subtle heat of the Harrisa, will make it the star of the meal.
Maine Blueberry Pork Tenderloin
We love our Maine Blueberry Pork Rub! It plays perfectly on sweet vs savory and the coarse texture makes this is a seriously flavorful bite with a smoky, caramelized crust. On the side? Beer braised cabbage with sumac + rosemary roasted potatoes to compliment the rub. The entire meal comes together in less than an hour. Enjoy!
Cast Iron Pizza
When it comes to cooking for a crowd, pizza is always successful. I love being able to get the dough, sauce, and toppings prepared in advance so all of the focus can be on having fun assembling together. Not everyone has a pizza oven or a pizza stone, but it’s usually pretty easy to find a cast iron somewhere.
Pizza Sauce
SKORDO Pizza Sauce Blend is a prime example of our blends + rubs doing all of the work for you. This is our family sauce recipe after years of trial and error! Use it on pizza or pasta, it'll always be delicious.
Maple Orange Caramel Popcorn
This is the perfect family treat after a day in the snow! The maple and orange flavors add a fun pop of flavor.
Southwest Bloody Mary
Our 'Americas' selection of blends + rubs is incredibly diverse, between barbecues rubs + seafood seasonings with various degrees of latin influence. It can make choosing what to use when an exciting challenge. To highlight the diversity of these blends, I love using them for anything outside the jar suggestions. Our Southwest Seasoning has made flavorful beans, lobster rolls with a kick, and even a delicious take on meatloaf. Today, it's taking a turn at the bar for a Southwestern Bloody Mary. Are you as excited as I am? Tequila or Gin? Celery Seed or Sriracha Salt? After a mostly successful dry January, I played around with a few combos and landed on a favorite. I'd love to hear your tweaks + successes in SKORDO Cooks!
French Dip Sandwiches
On beautifully basic sandwiches like the french dip- Prime Rib Rub is all you need! Our Prime Rib Rub is s+p based, with a touch of onion, garlic, some thyme, and a smidge of white pepper--ideal for letting the beef be the spotlight. The "dip" in French Dip Sandwiches is equally as important as the beef. I'm sure you've heard "Au Jus" before, it translates to "with the juices". While I didn't technically fortify the stock, I did amplify the flavor a bit with extra onion, garlic, rosemary + butter of course. Enjoy!
Adobo Cheese Dip
I never know who's playing, but I always know I will be making fresh pretzels. They only take a few hours, can be prepped in advance, and are perfect for dunking in this warm cheesy goodness. Our Adobo Seasoning is Salt, Sweet Paprika, Onion, Black Pepper, Cumin, Garlic, Chile Powder, Mexican Oregano -- AKA the perfect seasoning to add a flavorful kick to this dip. Using arrowroot to thicken, you have the freedom to use any milk or milk alternative you'd like and you're keeping it gluten-free (sans the pretzels of course!)
Tea Party!
Between dry January and a frigid winter, I have been reaching towards a mug of tea at least two times a day. While we rarely carry teas in the shops, we do always have our collection of herbs + spices that can be quickly steeped into a flavorful tea. Whether you enjoy these recipes as is, or use them to upgrade a basic black tea, they're certain to warm you up.
Spicy Chocolate Truffles
Chocolate truffles with a spicy kick? The perfect valentines day treat. These can easily be made with kiddos, or as a date night in with your valentine. Chocolate truffles are just flavored, shaped, balls of ganache. But ganache can be many things. You may have had ganache as a whipped frosting, a thick filling, or dripped on the side of a cake. Each of these are made the same, with chocolate + heavy cream. What changes is the ratio, this controls the fluidity of the ganache once it’s set.
Infused Sugar Scones
Is there anything better than fresh out of the oven scones? This recipe is a great base dough that allows for endless personalization. I made a quick batch last night and am looking forward to baking a set with different flavors on Sunday.
