Quick Sweet or Savory Galettes
Enjoy delicious sweet and savory galettes with your favorite local produce. Here we used our reliable food processor crust recipe, withheld most of the sugar, and had two beautiful tarts/galettes in just over an hour. Enjoy!
Melon Salad with Aleppo Pepper, Cucumber, + Feta
We love a mix of sweet and heat! Inspired by Tieghan Gerard's Half Baked Harvest melon recipe, we used Aleppo Chile Flakes in this recipe instead of crushed red pepper. There is something very magical about a complex chile such as Aleppo Chiles (spicy, sweet, earthy) overtop sweet, juicy melon. Pair it with bright herbs, sweet honey, and salty feta, and you have an ideal end of summer dish. Enjoy!
Momofuku Chili Oil Fried Egg over Garden Fried Rice
Fried rice is a great go-to recipe. Once you get the technique and seasoning down, you can alter it for any veg or meat you’ve got on hand--perfect for summer when you're harvesting from the garden or in the winter when you’re relying on what’s in the freezer! The star of the show here is the Momofuku Chili Crunch Oil. I finished up my rice, then fried an egg in a hot pan, using the chili oil as the cooking oil. This resulted in a crispy, crunchy, spicy fried egg with a gooey yolk ready to dribble through the rice beneath.
Potato Salad
Potato Salad is certainly a dish up for debate. Some like it warm, many prefer it cold, I like it most at a barbecue where it could be considered sun-kissed (aka suspiciously "room temp", not necessarily recommended). This one is simple and best enjoyed after a few hours of marinating. The vinegar begins to almost pickle the onions, dialing down the sharp onion flavor and keeping them crisp.
Everything Sandwich Bread
Ideal blend? A blend that can go on everything. Ideal bread? Bread you can serve with everything. With this recipe, you can have a fluffy, seeded white bread in just about 3 hours (or quicker with a mixer!). I went on to turn this into a yummy Egg Salad Sandwich, a BLT, crostinis for a cheese platter, and some croutons with the ends! Only regret? Not making another loaf.
Bloody Mary Mignonette
When I see Celery Salt, I think of two things- Lobster Rolls + Bloody Mary's! We've got our Southwest Bloody Mary Cocktail Recipe here in the Recipe Box, but how incredible would it be if each slurp of a fresh raw oyster had a Bloody Mary shot in it? Yum! While oysters are my go-to, you can find a collection of other ideas on how to use this mignonette at the end! Happy shucking!
Roasted Sweet Potatoes with Chili Aioli, Avocado, and Pickled Chilis
We had so much fun partnering with Chef Mike Kubiesa (co-author with Kristin Cavallari of True Comfort and True Roots) on this recipe. Our favorite thing about it? It's restaurant-quality but so doable for home cooks. He used both SKORDO Steak Seasoning and SKORDO Lemon Herb Fish Seasoning in the dish. To quote Mike, "this looks fancier than it is! I know it's a struggle for a lot of people to get quick and healthy meals out for them or their families on a nightly basis - trust me, I get it! My goal is to help you with that." Love it.
Steak Tip Wedge Salad | Garlic Pepper Caesar Dressing
Who doesn't love a wedge salad? Sure they can be clunky to eat, but they're refreshing and flexible. Our new Garlic Pepper is loaded with Garlic, Pepper, Brown Sugar, Paprika, Onion, Cumin, Bell Pepper, Parsley--which to me screams steakhouse salad. The coarse cracked pepper crusts beautifully on the steak tips and make this creamy dressing pop! It's very much influenced by Caesar dressing, and by using mayonnaise as the base it comes together in seconds. Make it your own by switching out different cheeses and toppings like blue cheese, bacon, hardboiled eggs, or maybe artichokes.
Citrus Salad with Fennel Pollen
Hellllloooo new ingredient! Fennel Pollen is here + ready to play! Unfamiliar with fennel pollen? We've got it all covered in this blog post- what it is, what it's like, where it comes from + more. With such a beautiful, delicate ingredient it is important to give it the spot light. Here we made a bright, springy salad that essentially dresses itself between bites with the blood oranges. It makes a great mid-day snack or an impressive appetizer ((especially with this AE Ceramics Oyster plate!)
Aleppo Oil
If you've read through our Meet Amy blog, linked here, you're probably still thinking about this gorgeous Aleppo oil. Lucky for us- she shared how she does it. The opportunities are endless with this condiment!
Harissa Hummus (+ Hummus Base Recipe)
The addition of Harissa to the hummus creates both a tasty and healthy dish. Use this on pita bread or as a side with other classic Middle Eastern dishes. The fresh flavor, coupled with the subtle heat of the Harrisa, will make it the star of the meal.
Maple Orange Caramel Popcorn
This is the perfect family treat after a day in the snow! The maple and orange flavors add a fun pop of flavor.
