Our spin on the classic Tom Collins cocktail includes a homemade blueberry simple syrup infused with sweet basil and lemon zest. This is a perfect balance of sweet berries, tart lemon, herbal basil, and subtle effervescence to enjoy in the warmer summer months.

This beverage is gluten-free, additive-free, salt-free, and vegan.

 Simple Syrup (about 8 servings):

4 tbsp or ¼ cup SKORDO Wild Blueberry Sugar

2 tbsp sweet basil

1 tbsp SKORDO Dried Lemon Zest

1 cup very hot water

To make:

1. Combine sugar, basil, and lemon zest in a muslin bag, cheesecloth, or tea filter
2. Place into hot water and let sit for at least 20 minutes

 

Cocktail (1 serving):

2 oz. vodka or gin

2 oz. blueberry basil simple syrup

1 oz. lemon juice

8 oz. ice

Soda water (can be flavored!)

To make:

1. Combine liquor of choice, blueberry simple syrup, lemon juice and ice in a shaker
2. If available, add a few fresh basil leaves and fresh blueberries, muddle
3. Shake well
4. Pour into a 12 oz. glass, top with soda water
5. Garnish with lemon, blueberries and basil if you'd like and enjoy!
