SKORDO is opening in Portsmouth, NH!

We are beyond excited to be expanding and settling into our new home in the heart of downtown Portsmouth this spring! Portsmouth has been a part of SKORDO’s history from the start. It was the place our owners called home when the idea for SKORDO was born. We can’t wait to welcome you to our new space and excite +  inspire the homecooks of the area!

We are beyond excited to return to the community where it all began for us. The idea for SKORDO was born while we lived in Portsmouth over 10 years ago, and we’ve always felt a deep connection to this city. My grandparents immigrated from Greece and grew up just outside of Portsmouth, and it’s a place that’s shaped who we are today. We can’t wait to bring our expanded store to this community that means so much to us and to continue to inspire others to explore the world of home cooking and spices.

New Categories & Family-Friendly Focus

In addition to our extensive collection of high-quality spices and spice blends, we will introduce new categories aimed at enhancing the cooking experience for families and green thumbs. The Garden-Inspired Section will feature everything from herbs to garden tools, enabling customers to grow their own flavorful ingredients at home. Additionally, a special Kids in the Kitchen section will offer fun and educational tools for introducing children to the joys of cooking and helping to foster a love of food from an early age!

Spice & Herb Experience Wall

A highlight of the new Portsmouth store will be the Spice & Herb Experience Wall, where customers will have the opportunity to discover and explore a wide variety of spices and herbs from around the world. This immersive display will allow visitors to touch, smell, and learn about the ingredients, making it the perfect space for culinary enthusiasts to expand their knowledge and spark new cooking ideas.

Expanding Serveware & Entertaining Accessories

We are also excited to expand our product offering to include a new range of serveware and entertaining accessories. Customers can expect to find beautifully curated pieces perfect for hosting family gatherings, dinner parties, and special occasions. From elegant serving platters to unique cocktail tools, these new items will complement our commitment to bringing people together around the table.

We love looking to Go Portsmouth to keep us in the loop on what’s happening around the city! See their calendar here.

The third Thursday of every month is Local Love from 5-8 p.m., an event supporting shopping local in downtown Portsmouth! It’s a great time to show up for all of the small businesses in town. Check them out on Instagram at @localloveportsmouth!

If you’re in the mood for more shopping, the shops on Commercial Alley are a great place to start. The charm of this walking street adds to our love of Portsmouth (it also makes a great photo opportunity to remember your visit!)

Want to grab a bite while you’re in town? Moxy  is right around the corner serving up tapas and small plates. Ceres Bakery offers house made breads, sandwiches and baked goods!  Napoletana Pizzaria is right down the street and great for slices, paninis and pastas. Want international flavor? Durbar Square is right across from SKORDO and a great spot for Nepalese!

If you need a coffee or sweet treat before your shopping or on your way out, our neighbors Cup of Joe and Elephantine Bakery are here! Our team leader in our new shop, Kayla, always makes Lovebirds' Donuts a stop. They have a wonderful rotating selection of vegan and gluten-free treats! Have you heard of Wild Valentine? It’s a flower shop meets coffee shop that’s just too cute.

Portsmouth holds a great space for music and the arts. Our SKORDO team members love live music, and find Jimmy’s Jazz & Blues Club, The Music Hall Lounge and The Press Room  go-tos for live music and a bite. 3S Art Space over on Vaughn St. is a great location for both music and art in the city.

On the first Friday of every month the city hosts Art ‘Round Town when local galleries are open 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. We also love checking out Market Square Day at the start of every summer season, and the Prescott Park Arts Festival in the summer to get to know local artisans and makers!
