Za'atar - Syrian

$7.00

Size

Syrian Za'atar, unlike its Israeli counterpart, contains cumin and paprika. Sprinkle it over hummus or use it as an all-purpose condiment blend in Middle Eastern style cooking. It also creates a divine flavor when sprinkled liberally on lamb, both before and after grilling. You can use Syrian Za'atar as a rub on chicken and it also goes exceptionally well with seafood, especially fish. If you need an extra kick in the morning, sprinkle over your eggs or oatmeal!

A highlight of our stay in Portland

This shop is to people who like to cook like a toy-store is to a little kid. We spent a long time sniffing wonderful aromas (who knew there were several kinds of smoked salt, each with a different profile and use), talking to the knowledgeable and enthusiastic staff, and gathering up spices we could not wait to try. All of it arrived the day after we got back home to Maryland. We especially love the option of small quantity containers so the spices don’t lose their potency before they can be used up. This is definitely our new go to source, and we will be ordering from them instead of buying grocery store spices. Thank you for one of our impressive culinary adventures in Portland. What a great city!

Equally Delicious Blend

While shopping to refill my Israeli Za’atar I discovered Syrian Za’atar. Both landed in my cart! The Syrian blend leads with citrus (Sumac) and savory (Thyme) tastes. Further rivaled by warm bottom notes (paprika & cumin) a mild Middle Eastern flavor emerges. 😋 I love it on roasted orange chicken, potatoes prepared any style, even on ground turkey and egg noddles with butter. It has become a staple in my spice collection. I seem to be using it more and more.

Delicious blend!

My husband and I use this for so many different dishes. I cook vegetables and grilled chicken with this blend. It's so delicious and we purchased the larger bag for that reason!
