Chives, very popular in Western cooking, have a spicy, onion-like taste. Use chives to liven up a potato salad or baked potato or stir some into a thick yogurt and use it as a relish for grilled fish. You can also add them to herb sauces or add them generously to a fresh herb salad for more of an upbeat flavor. Chives also pair well with smoked salmon, omelettes, and many different soups. Just make sure not to cook chives or they will lose their flavor.
