How It's Made: SKORDO Blends + Rubs-SKORDO Kitchen Blog
In this video clip we're mixing up a batch of Advieh, a blend of freshly ground cumin, coriander, black peppercorns, cardamom, cinnamon, nutmeg, lime zest, and rose petals.

Why do we do this? One word: Flavor.

As soon as you grind a spice, the oils begin to evaporate and the flavors start to diminish. That's why we freshly grind the majority of our spices, and we keep our inventory levels low so the batch you get hasn't been sitting on a shelf for months. We are in our Brunswick, Maine warehouse making these blends Monday through Friday!

We will never add preservatives, anti-caking agents, or other fillers to our blends. You may need to de-clump the Blueberry Pork Rub in between your fingers when you first get it because it contains whole dried Maine blueberries. Sure, we could add anti-caking agents and you would have a perfectly smooth batch every time, but we'd rather deliver to you perfectly imperfect, real spice blends and ingredients. And that's what we'll keep doing.
