Fleur de Sel

Fleur de Sel, or French sea salt, is premium sea salt derived from the delicate surface crystals that form on top of the sea as the sea water evaporates. As such, many think this salt tastes like the sea. It retains moisture more than other salts and doesn't dissolve quickly, allowing the salt flavor to linger on the taster's tongue. However, once cooked the salt loses some of its unique flavors so we suggest sprinking your food with this salt right before the meal is consumed. We love to use it on chocolate or caramel or on top of salads or fresh baked bread. Also, it makes a lovely last minute addition to any fine seared meat.
