Crispy, Sticky, Garlic-y. This vegetarian friendly meal is quick and simple, while packing a ton of flavor. Make this one your own by swapping in your favorite vegetables, or serving with noodles instead of rice. Our new Garlic Pepper seasoning is salt-free, making it perfect for asian dishes that use a lot of soy sauce.

Makes 4 servings

Ingredients:

For the marinade:

  • 1 block of firm tofu
  • ¼ cup soy sauce, or tamari
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons rice wine vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons Sriracha
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Garlic Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt, to taste

For the stir fry:

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • ½ teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 teaspoons soy sauce or tamari
  • 1 teaspoon salt, to taste
  • 1 orange, juiced
  • ½ tablespoon arrowroot powder
  • 1 head of broccoli
  • 1 bell pepper, I used orange for color
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon white sesame seeds
  • 2 scallions, whites chopped + greens sliced thin

Directions:

  1. Dice your tofu and pat dry with paper towel. In a medium container, whisk marinade ingredients until combined and toss tofu to coat. Let marinate for 15-30 minutes before cooking.
  2. Wash and trim your broccoli into florets. Slice your bell pepper, juice your orange, and mince your ginger.
  3. In a medium-large skillet, add 2 tablespoons of water, your broccoli, and cover with a lid to steam until bright green, but still a bit firm. Drain, and return pan to heat.
  4. Add 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil to your skillet. While it's pre-heating, drain your tofu and discard your marinade.
  5. Fry your tofu cubes in small batches, letting cook until each side is golden brown. Remove tofu and set aside.
  6. Add bell pepper, scallion whites, and ginger to hot oil.
  7. In a medium bowl, whisk together stock, sesame oil, honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, orange juice, and garlic pepper.
  8. Sprinkle arrowroot over vegetables, then pour sauce over top.
  9. Simmer + stir until sauce thickens. Add tofu + broccoli back in, then toss to coat and remove from heat.
  10. To enjoy, sprinkle with sesame seeds + scallion greens and serve with steamed rice.
